Rev. Sam Jun – ASSOCIATE PASTOR AND DIRECTOR YOUTH & FAMILY MINISTRY
Sam was called to Pines in July 2003. Born and reared in South Korea as the son of a Presbyterian pastor, Sam is a naturalized American citizen. He holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary. In addition to his great love for youth and youth ministry, Sam is a gifted preacher and has a heart for pastoral care. He values relationships over programs and seeks to be a “soul tender” to parishioners of all ages. Sam and his wife Annie are the proud parents of two young daughters.
Rev. Barbara Retzloff – ASSOCIATE PASTOR
Barbara was called to serve Pines in 2012 having previously served here twenty-three years in the area of Christian Education. She continues to equip our Adult Education ministries, including Sunday School and weekday Bible Study Groups. She is also involved with Stephen Ministry, Pilgrimage, women’s ministry, and our Prayer Ministry. Barbara and her husband, Steve, have a blended family of five children, and find great joy serving the Lord together. Barbara received her Master of Arts degree from the Presbyterian School of Christian Education, and is a certified Christian Educator, a trained spiritual director, and received her Master of Divinity Degree from Fuller Theological Seminary.
Tim Holder – DIRECTOR, MUSIC MINISTRIES
Tim came to Pines in May of 2014. As a child, Tim played the piano “by ear” and later studied piano from the first grade all the way through college. As the years progressed he added the organ, accordion, and trombone to his repertoire of instruments. Tim attended North Texas State University and Texas Tech University with a major in Music Education. He has been choir director/organist for several churches in Texas and Louisiana. Tim brings to Pines a wide variety of musical genres for the congregation to enjoy. His philosophy of music is to always lift up Christ, select music that flows with the sermon of the day, and strive to give the music program a warm, comfortable feeling.
Valerie Mowell – DIRECTOR, CHILDREN’S MINISTRY
Valerie has been a member of Pines for 14 years and began her work as Director of Children’s Ministry in Fall 2016. She was previously an elementary classroom teacher, a youth director and also tutored all ages of children for many years. In addition to her background in education, Valerie holds a certification in Nonprofit Management and recently worked as a fundraiser for a nonprofit health center. She thanks God for this position which effortlessly combines both of these passion areas. She and her husband Scott have two beautiful and energetic daughters and they all greatly enjoy the worship experience and the fellowship they find at Pines.
Dorothy Hobbs – PRESCHOOL DIRECTOR
Dorothy is a graduate from Southern Methodist University with a BA in Education. She is a life-long Presbyterian who taught school for ten years before serving in Recreational Ministry and Youth Ministry. Dorothy brings her love of the Lord and children to the Pines Preschool. She believes as a church we have the privilege and the responsibility to share God’s unconditional love for all children (and parents) in the preschool environment. In Matthew 19:14 Jesus says, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them for the kingdom of heaven belongs to them.”
Cindy Houlihan – OFFICE MANAGER
Cindy came to Pines in December of 1999. As office manager, she works closely with all members of the church, manages the church facilities and supplies, and assists in the scheduling of all activities and special events. If you have a question concerning the church, she can usually answer it! Cindy has a son, JD.
Alexis Graham – ACCOUNTING MANAGER
Alexis joined the office staff at Pines in November, 2014. Her primary responsibilities are to handle the accounting functions for the church, including accounts payable and receivables. She works under the guidance of the Church Treasurer and the Stewardship Committee. In addition, she provides support to the Committee Moderators in overseeing their committee budgets and disbursements.
Genny Bogue – RECEPTIONIST
Genny gets to represent Pines in a unique way. She is usually the first person to meet and greet members and visitors as they come through the front door as well as answer and direct the many phone calls and inquiries throughout each day. The reception desk can be a challenging and exciting place to work and Genny welcomes each days’ activities with a smile and the question ‘How may I help you today?”
Pedro Nada – CUSTODIAN
Pedro brings a great deal of experience having to do with maintenance, cleanliness, and building safety. He feels that coming to Pines is “one of the many blessings from our Lord”. Pedro is happy to be part of this wonderful team and he is ready to help you with whatever you need.
