Sunday Mornings   Programs & Activities

Come and explore Pines Presbyterian Church’s Sunday School offerings for children.  There is something wonderful for everyone and we look forward to meeting you!

For 2017-2018 School Year:

Room W8:  Child Care for Babies and Toddlers

This service is provided to parents of babies and toddlers every Sunday morning from 9:15 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. so that parents may participate in the life of Pines including Adult Sunday School classes, Worship Services, and Fellowship time with others.  Pines sitters are professional staff who are CPR-certified, experienced at working with children, and have completed a required child safeguarding training through “Protect My Ministry”. We have a beautiful new room for babies and toddlers that is equipped with a bathroom, changing table, cribs, a rocking chair, a baby chair and plenty of age appropriate toys. Additionally, the room is connected to a fantastic playground designed specifically for young children. The children in this room will move up to the Pre-K classroom in the school year that follows their third birthday.

Room W6:  The Discoverers Class (3-year-olds (by September 1st) through Kindergarten)

Room W14:  The Trekkers Class (1st and 2nd Grade)

Room W12:  The Explorers Class (3rd through 5th Grade)

Our Sunday morning classes provide a place where children can grow together in their faith, and grow their relationship with Christ and with each other. Three- year-olds through 2nd grade engage with the “Deep Blue” Curriculum provided by Cokesbury. Deep Blue Kids is a comprehensive Bible study for children, incorporating the pillar stories of the Old and New Testaments. It includes service learning, science activities, arts and crafts, animated video storytelling and active games into a faith building experience that will help children discover what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ today.

The 3rd through 5th grade class delves even deeper and learns more about the different parts of worship and engages in discussion around the many lessons and stories in the Bible.  This class has a fun and engaging mix of awesome crafts and games, regular Bible study and plenty of service opportunities both locally and globally.  Some of the highlights include Jeopardy Bible Trivia days and carving pumpkins before Halloween while relating the meaning of that activity to God’s place in our lives.  Come and join us in one of these caring and Christ-centered classes!

11:00 a.m. Worship Service

About 15 minutes into the 11:00 Worship Service each Sunday, all children are invited to the front steps of the sanctuary for a short scripture message provided by the Director of Children’s Ministry.  Afterwards, the four-year-olds through 4th grade children proceed to room W14 to participate in a special children’s church time called Kids Worship.  Children younger than four may stay with their parents in the sanctuary or utilize the child care in room W8.  A trained leader and assistant walk with the children to the Kids Worship room and teach the lesson each week. Activities are centered around the worship elements of music and prayer and also incorporate meaningful crafts, games, discussions and more.  Parents pick up their children from room W14 following the conclusion of the 11:00 Worship Service.
