Come and explore Pines Presbyterian Church’s Sunday School offerings for children. There is something wonderful for everyone and we look forward to meeting you!
Rooms W7 and W8: Child Care for children 0-35 months
This service is provided to parents of babies and toddlers every Sunday morning from 9:15 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. so that parents may participate in the life of Pines including Adult Sunday School classes, Worship Services, and Fellowship time with others. Pines sitters are professional staff who are CPR-certified, experienced at working with children, and have completed a required child safeguarding training through “Protect My Ministry”. We have a separate Infant Room (W7) equipped with cribs, a changing table, a rocking chair, a sink and a bathroom. The Toddler Room is directly across the hall and also features a bathroom, plenty of age-appropriate toys and is connected to a large and beautiful playground area.
Room W6: The Discoverers Class (3-year-olds (by September 1st) through Kindergarten)
Room W14: The Trekkers Class (1st and 2nd Grade)
Room W12: The Explorers Class (3rd through 5th Grade)
Our Sunday morning classes provide a place where children can grow together in their faith, and grow their relationship with Christ and with each other. Three- year-olds through 2nd grade engage with the “Growing in Grace and Gratitude” Curriculum provided by the PCUSA. Each lesson shares a Bible story that reveals God’s grace for us. Through fun, age-appropriate activities, prayer and singing, children and their trained volunteer leaders will celebrate the meaning of grace in their lives as they encounter a living God. The 3rd through 5th grade class delves even deeper and learns more about the different parts of worship and engages in discussion around the many lessons and stories in the Bible. This class has a fun and engaging mix of awesome crafts and games, regular Bible study and plenty of service opportunities both locally and globally. Some of the highlights include Jeopardy Bible Trivia days and carving pumpkins before Halloween while relating the meaning of that activity to God’s place in our lives. Come and join us in one of these caring and Christ-centered classes!
11:00 a.m. Worship Service
About 15 minutes into the 11:00 Worship Service each Sunday, all children are invited to the front steps of the sanctuary for a short scripture message provided by the Director of Children’s Ministry. Afterwards, the four-year-olds through 4th grade children proceed to room W13 to participate in a special children’s church time called Kids Worship. Children younger than four may stay with their parents in the sanctuary or utilize the child care in room W7. A trained leader and assistant walk with the children to the Kids Worship room and teach the lesson each week. Activities are centered around the worship elements of music and prayer and also incorporate meaningful crafts, games, discussions and more. Parents pick up their children from room W13 following the conclusion of the 11:00 Worship Service.
